JKD/KALI

KALI JKD

Students will develop skills and gain strength, confidence, focus, and, most importantly, have fun. Our experienced instructors approach martial arts and self-defense inspired by Jeet Kune Do concepts of Bruce Lee. Additional areas of influence include Filipino Kali, Muay Thai, Silat, and other martial arts.

Since JKD is one of our core philosophies, our class curriculum covers many aspects of self-defense, including strength & conditioning, weaponry, trapping, kickboxing, clinching, takedowns, and grappling.

The guiding philosophies of our curriculum are also intended to guide a student’s personal growth by presenting new challenges and problems to solve. Overcoming the physical and mental barriers to one’s goals helps a student to grow as a person, as a member of a group, as a leader, and as a good training partner to others. Our instructors take the time to actively teach these skills as part of our curriculum.

JKD/Kali is appropriate for most ages 13 years and older, and no experience is necessary.
We offer a free two-week trial for beginners.

Meet our Instructors:

Mark Reoch: JKD/Kali Instructor

Mark is a certified Senior Associate Instructor in Jeet Kune Do, Kali-Silat under Sifu/Tuhan Dan Inosanto.

In addition, Mark has trained in martial arts for over 40 years in a wide variety of styles, including Muay Thai boxing, Moo Duk Kwan, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Wing Chun and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  He strongly believes martial arts not only provides one with a strong sense of self-defense while strengthening physical and mental abilities, but also offers the camaraderie of students, instructors and other martial artists.

Lifelong friendships are formed in the work one invests in the training and this is one of the great rewards of martial arts.

John O’Grady: Sifu - Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do). Guro - Kali

John has been involved in martial arts since the early 1990’s. He has studied several different systems over the years including JKD (Jeet Kune Do/Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu), Kali (Filipino Martial Arts), Muay Thai Kickboxing, Western Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, and Wrestling.

While living in Los Angeles, he had the opportunity to study with Guro Dan Inosanto and Guro Ron Balicki, who still provide him with inspiration and instruction today. John was also on the staff of Inside Kung Fu Magazine, producing their diverse instructional video catalog, which exposed him to a wide variety of martial arts practiced around the world and deepened his appreciation for martial arts.

John brings his enthusiasm and passion for martial arts to every class. His classes are high energy with the goal of motivating and challenging students of all levels. He helps guide his students to find their own love for the martial arts as they build strength, stamina, focus, and confidence in their own abilities.
