United Martial Arts Center (UMAC) has been serving the Denver/Englewood area since the 1999 and has a well-earned reputation for being a community-oriented business that cares. Offering classes to kids and adults, fitness boxing/kickboxing, and self-defense: the focus is on safety and fun. (Yes, really! Martial arts training can be fun and not harsh or fear-based like you see in the movies). Taking from the best of research, we know that we learn best when our brains are engaged and we are enjoying what we’re doing.
We teach a variety of martial arts styles in a blended-style martial arts curriculum. UMAC’s positive teaching philosophy was created by nationally recognized self-defense expert and motivational thought-leader, 4th Degree Black Belt Master Instructor Theresa Byrne, to be one where students are taught using encouragement and positive energy to become amazing human beings. “Leading through love” is what she calls it. That’s how we all grow best, when we’re supported and loved to achieve more than what we thought possible. And yes, discipline is still part of encouragement, parents. In fact, we help teach self-discipline through the use of our research and experiential based methods, ones we’ve used successfully for thousands of students over the years. We’ve run successful programs for over 12 years at such amazing schools as DU’s Ricks Center for Gifted Children and Montessori School of Denver.
